Despite our best moisturizing efforts, lips can still be one of the hardest areas to keep soft and healthy. The key to reaching your full lip potential starts with consistency and proper care.

One step many of us forget is exfoliation. Gently removing dead skin with a lip scrub helps prevent flakes and allows lip balm and lipstick to apply more smoothly. Try to exfoliate at least once a week, and avoid picking at your lips, as this can lead to irritation or bleeding.

Hydration is just as important. Unlike the rest of our skin, lips do not contain oil glands, which makes them more prone to dryness. Using a nourishing lip balm regularly helps lock in moisture and protect the lips throughout the day. Drinking plenty of water also plays a major role in keeping lips hydrated from the inside out. Avoid licking your lips, as this can actually dry them out even more.

For best results, reapply lip balm often—especially after eating or drinking. Some recommend reapplying every two hours to keep lips soft, smooth, and healthy all day long.
